SUCCESS - AUGUST 17 NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH SYMPOSIUM FOR VILLAGE COORDINATORS AND MAIL BOX CAPTAINS .  More than 100 Board members, Coordinators and Mail Box Captains attended the event. in Orchard Creek Front Ballroom.  "Improving Neighborhood Watch Communications."  The Lincoln Police Department gave a slide presentation on the W.A.R.N. (Wide Area Rapid Notification System) especially on Guardian Care Call, a free service that is part of W.A.R.N. and Pauline Watson announced the DialMyCalls.Com a free phone service to help our Mail Box Captains forward information to our non-computer residents by telephone instead of computers.  Roundtable discussions on what can we do to improve or streamline Neighborhood Watch Communcations followed.  The results of the Communications Symposium will be announced soon.

SIGNING UP FOR ALERTS - EASY - Click on "Alerts/Info" button above and click on "ADD ME."  This automatically registers you.  To be removed from the "Alerts" - follow the same procedure except click on "REMOVE ME."

ALERTS PROGRAM now has a direct email address for you to send in your alerts or items of interest.  It is SCLHWatchAlerts@lincal.net  Joan Belshin, Alerts Program Team Coordinator and Alerts Team Member/Liaison to Lincoln PD Barry Johnson.

GUARDIAN CARE CALL PROGRAM  The City of Lincoln offers this free automated calling system to contact individuals on a daily basis.  Register for this service at http://www.warninfo.com/guardiansignup.php?location=CityCaLincoln   Web address all on one line.    For more detailed information see Chapter 6, Section 6.11 in the Neighborhood Watch Policies and Procedures Handbook or contact Pauline Watson at 543-8436.   

NEW DIALMYCALLS.COM COORDINATOR At the August 17 Symposium Sharon Englehardt was introduced as the new DialMyCalls.Com Coordinator.  This is a free service available at www.dialmycalls.com website for anyone wishing to use it.    The website offers a very good Tutorial to walk you through the process.  Neighborhood Watch introduced this as a tool for Mail Box Captains to use when dealing with residents who do not have computers.  If you  have problems, please contact Sharon Englehardt at 408-4869

NEW VILLAGE COORDINATOR VACANCIES:  8A, 1.2, 13, 16B, 28, 30B, 38A, 39, 40B.  Anyone interested should contact Ken Sheehan at 434-7712.  You need not reside in that village if you have a desire to become a Coordinator.  

CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN:  Announcing another new Director for Neighborhood Watch.  His name is Larry Wilson from Village 19B.  Larry will be a Co-Director with Barbara Moss and her villages and Janet Pawloski will be a Co-Director with Pauline Watson and her villages for training purposes until they get elected to the Board in November.

DID YOU KNOW!!!  The Neighborhood Watch article that appears monthly in the Sun Senior News is also added to our website every month.  Just click on Newsletters.  A recent message from a Coordinator alerted me to the fact that he didn't know we offered a monthly newsletter to you.  You just never know what goodies are hidden behind those little buttons.  You need to explore.
